Fetch, Decode, Execute

Fetch, Decode, Execute!
Computers CPU has a machine cycle that is constantly running, following new instructions and performing new tasks. This is much like how the average Hope College student operates. In the first phase of the cycle, the fetch section, instructions that need to be performed are retrieved. Hope College students have to retrieve from their memory plans that they have. For example, students would need to remember that they have a coffee date at 3-o-clock. Students have to first REMEMBER that they have these plans. The next step is to decode the information. For students, this means they have to figure out what this means for their schedule. What homework will you have to get done before or after that? Do you need to change? Do you have to go get money before going to coffee? Can you even go at all? The last step is execute: actually performing the task. This would be actually going to the coffee date. The cycle then starts all over. What is the next thing you have to "fetch"? We are constantly running through the same exercises as a computer.
This is a simple comparison, but a way for me to remember the steps that a computer must go through in order to complete a task!
